ZOROBIN: SKYPIEA ARC 13 - CONCLUSION(Here the first article on Skypiea Arc; here the previous article.)ZORO, YOU ARE GREAT! (says Robin...without saying!)In one scene, Zoro cuts down Skypiea's tree with an impressive chopping blow. Usopp loudly compliments him, and, in doing so, he becomes Robin's "narrator" as well, because he basically says what Robin thinks. Her smile is hinted at, but she shows it: and it is a smile of satisfaction for what Zoro is capable of doing. At Punk Hazard this expression will be more accentuated...
Usop: YOU ARE GREAT, ZORO! YOU DID IT!
ROBIN IS GRATEFUL TO ZOROThe story has ended and Ener has been defeated: everyone rests and discusses what to do. Robin stands apart, thoughtful, while the others, in the background and off-screen, talk. She has a relaxed and a little pleased expression: but for what? Here we can only make hypotheses, but, given the context, it is possible that this is the case: Oda's drawings are not made by chance. While Robin sits and smiles to herself, Zoro is in the background, even if you can hardly see him: it is possible that Robin was thinking about Zoro, who had fought to save her and then avenge her. That smile looks like a smile of recognition and satisfaction. Not to mention that the bracelet that Robin wears on his arm has the letter "N", which surely stands for "Nico", her surname: well, positioned that way, the "N" becomes "Z", Zoro's initial!
DETAILS...At the end of the story, Usop asks Zoro where are the others (chap 301). It's curious that he responds first of all
mentioning Robin's absence!
Usop: By the way, where are Luffy and the others? Zoro: I don't know about Robin, but the others are still in there.
ROBIN? LET'S LEAVE HER HERE!
Zoro: Look, let's go back to the ship and leave without that woman! Usop: Bastard! We cannot do it! Rufy: Stupid! Sanji: Bastard Marimo! Chopper: Bastard marimo!
It seems that Zoro no longer wants Robin around because he doesn't trust her. But, after what we've seen so far, Zoro's behavior is inconsistent: he saw that Robin risked her life with them against Ener and that she had saved him when he passed out. So the reason why Zoro says something like this is something else, and it's not distrust. The point is that Robin risked
literally her skin, electrocuted by Ener in front of Zoro: Zoro would rather put Robin in safety. But with a journey as endless and dangerous as Luffy's, it's possible that Robin will risk dying again. Now Robin is somewhere else and she can't hear him, the others are preparing to leave... what better occasion to venture this possibility? So Robin will be safe in an island of the sky where there is no more Ener. But the resistance of the others in the crew is very strong, and Zoro loses at the start (
he cannot say to leave Robin there because he is worried about her: he would cover himself with ridicule!). Another Zorobin, hidden by Zoro-antiRobin.
But that's not all: we must know that Skypiea's people wanted to thank Luffy and the others by giving them a golden structure, and they told Robin. But Luffy and the others, as soon as they see Robin accompanied by Skypiea's people, think that they are chasing her, and even them too, because they had taken the treasure that was in the giant snake. They all then run off, telling Robin to join them. Curiously, Robin does not clear up the misunderstanding and tells Skypiea's people that her comrades "don't want that thing anymore" (the golden object). And she says it chuckling, and she keeps doing it while she runs away. Well, it's a curious moment. Before, Zoro said to abandon Robin in Skypiea and now what is abandoned there is the gold, while Robin is called by all of Luffy's crew. It's like saying that Robin is more precious than gold and is now part of Luffy's crew. And what does Zoro have to do with it?
Robin: Hahaha. It seems they don't want it anymore. Note: Meaning of Japanese signs: she is giggling.
He has to do with this, because, in the crew, despite what he said before, he turns to Robin with a smile. And between Robin and Zoro is Sanji, fully facing Robin, and with two hearts sprouting out of him. Well, those two hearts, right between Robin and Zoro, indicate Zoro's number, exactly two. A hidden Zorobin, again.
