DIALOGUE 5: NAIDA'S CONDITIONING

Naida is laying on her bed and reflects to herself.
Naida: Duke, I loved you, I loved you so much I could not forget you for a second only. Nevertheless…ah!!!

(Naida remembers the torture and mental conditioning received during her imprisoning. She is tied up to a chair and receives electrical impulses from six points as a torture. She screams in pain, then lowers her head in exhaustion. King Vega's face appears from behind.)
King Vega: Duke Fleed is a traitor!

Naida (with suffering voice): That's not true, that's not true, Duke is not...

King Vega: Shut up, shut up! Calm down your breath. Listen to me. Duke Fleed is a traitor. In order to survive only himself, he's escaped with Grendizer abandoning you. Have you understood?

(Naida nods)

King Vega: You must find the traitor and remove him together with Grendizer, alright?
(Naida nods again)

King Vega: OK, don't forget this.

(Naida silently agrees, then she is tortured again.)

(The dreamy recall ends as she is still laying in her bed.)

FIRST COMMENTS

This scene seems to be in contradiction with Gandal's previous words in Skarmoon Base: in fact, it seemed that it was Gandal who ordered Naida's "job". Instead, here, and later, in the hangar scene, it is instead King Vega who speaks directly to Naida and gives orders. It is therefore possible that Gandal was only the person responsible for communicating the logistical data on Naida, while the conditioning was conducted by King Vega.
In King Vega's sentence, it is pronounced precisely "Okay", the English word, in the Japanese version.
However, it is very strange and significant that King Vega himself took the responsibility of organizing the plan and putting it into action: it is the first time ever that this happens in the anime.
I had always found very strange that King Vega himself had taken part in Naida's "conditioning". It may have been a symbolic image that indicates Naida's nightmare...but I also consider another approach possible. I suppose that the Vegan plan of episode 25 was conceived directly by King Vega himself and it was simply organized by Gandal at the operational level.
