    ANALYSIS ABOUT NAIDA

DAISUKE AND NAIDA: AN AMBIGUOUS RELATIONSHIP

To evaluate Naida's credibility with regard to the history of the Fleedian brains, it is important trying to establish the nature of her relationship with Daisuke.

There are several factors that make Daisuke's trust in Naida not so certain, and therefore her real credibility. During the dialogue in the Research Center, in Japanese Original Version (OV), Daisuke says:

Daisuke: (...) But, if you are telling the truth...(Daisuke turns and moves away from Naida with a tense expression). If this story is true, I will never forgive such a traitor, by no means!

    A1

Please note: twice in the same sentence, Daisuke admits the possibility that Naida could lie: "if you are telling the truth," "if this story is true." Twice and in the same sentence, I repeat: a very strange thing. Clearly, Duke Fleed thinks that Naida is perfectly capable of lying. Indeed, the fact that Daisuke does not completely rely on Naida is proven by at least two elements. It was also highlighted, in the analysis of the relationship between Daisuke and Hikaru, the fact that Daisuke has been kept silence with Naida about of the existence of Hikaru, despite ep25's story was unfolding clearly over a period of time of a few weeks.

    A2

But, obviously, Daisuke had concealed to Naida also the position of Grendizer. Indeed, at the beginning of the hangar scene, Naida exclaims:

Naida: Finally I have found it.

    A3

Since Naida is relieved to see the robot (more specifically, to "find" Grendizer, as she says: in fact, you "find" something only after having searched it everywhere), obviously she did not know the exact position of the robot in the Center. Then, Daisuke did not show her Grendizer during her stay. Yet, from Naida's dialogues in the hangar, it is clear that she perfectly knew about the robot and she knew that Duke Fleed was its pilot (probably, it was a fact more generally known by Fleed's population: it was not a secret that had been revealed to her depending on her proximity to the royal family): this is even implicitly assumed by Re Vega, during Naida's conditioning. It is difficult to think that Naida did not ask Daisuke for news about the robot, but apparently she had not received the information.

So, we have no clues in favor of Duke Fleed having unconditional trust in Naida, and it is necessary to ask ourselves why. The possible explanations are two:
    1) A plot hole by the screenwriters
    2) On Fleed Planet, Naida had given Duke Fleed reasons to fear that she was a person he could not trust. They had never met again after the attack on Fleed, so Duke Fleed's instinctive recognition that Naida was a person he could not trust completely was due to something happened on their native planet.
