    ZOROBIN: THE STRANGE CASE OF MISS DOUBLEFINGER

    Oda is a master at inserting symbolic references that will be understood only YEARS later. We observe a scene from the Alabasta saga: the evil Crocodile of the Shichibukai and secret commander of the subversive organization Baroque Works is ready to make his final move and asks Nico Robin, who was then allied with him, how the situation is . Let's hear her answer:

    image
    Robin: I also called Mr. 2, but it seems that Mr. 3 cannot be found. All the official agents will meet tonight at Spider's Cafe at eight o'clock.

    Robin mentions the agents Mister Two and Mister Three: well, two is Zoro's number (he is in fact the second to join Luffy's crew), and three is the number of his swords. In addition, Robin mentions the Spider's Cafè: only those who have read One Piece for years can understand the reference to Shakky, who, in addition to managing a cafe, also has the design of a spider on her dress. And Shakky, along with another character, Rayleigh, is also a reference to Robin and Zoro (to explain why, it would take another article: I'll do it later).

    Shakky

    Well: Spider's Cafe is run by Paula, who is none other than Baroque Works' Miss Double Finger. She is paired with Mister One, the second in charge of the organization (the first is the boss, Mister Zero, precisely Crocodile). Miss Double Finger is together with Mister One, the number two of the organization, as Robin is with the number two of the crew (Zoro). Also, Miss Double Finger, in the guise of Paula, wears a bandana like Zoro and has a tuft of hair that goes down and looks a bit like Robin after the time-skip. Not to mention the glasses.

    Additionally, both Shakky and Paula/Miss Doublefinger, along with Skypiea's Laki, run a bar and have similarities to Robin. Additionally, Laki is with Wiper, who is Zoro's equivalent in Skypiea. Shakky is linked to Rayleigh, Zoro's equivalent in Gold Roger's crew.

    However, the names of the women of Baroque Works refer to holidays: “Double Finger” means “January 1st”, which in Japan is a public holiday, and it is indicated with two fingers. So, it is two times one: two is the number of Zoro and Zoro was born on November 11th: 11/11, twice times number one, repeated twice. Another Miss Double Finger bond, not with Robin this time, but with Zoro! Check out the presentation of the Baroque Works in the cover of cap160:

    Baroque Works' organization: at the top there are the captains indicated with the numbers, and, at the bottom, the respective colleagues, indicated with the holidays. Crocodile, the leader, has the number zero.

    Robin/Miss All Sunday and Miss Double Finger are placed side by side. "Sunday" is the seventh day of the week, while Double Finger, as I said, contains the number two. Here is the relationship between Robin, the seventh member of Luffy's crew, and Zoro, the second member, in advance. Also, Miss Double Finger laughed like Robin when Zoro (really him!) made his joke.

    image image_4_copia
    Zoro: "Well, he wanted to enlist me in the Baroque Works, so I said to him: "Either you make me your boss, or we don't even talk about it!"
    Miss Double Finger: "He he he ... he's a funny guy!"

    image_5
    Robin: He he he...
    Crocodile: What are you laughing?
    Robin and Miss Double Finger laugh alike.

    When the elements of Baroque Works are brought to Crocodile, it is noteworthy that Miss Doublefinger sits next to Mr 1, and him alone. In addition, her way of sitting is similar to Robin's. Just look at Robin's position when she asks to be admitted to Luffy's crew: apparently she is different, but her basic "mocking" attitude remains the same. Not to mention that Mister 1 has an attitude practically similar to that of Zoro: taciturn and ruthless like him. And the fact that no one knew Paula's true identity (or "Pola", according to other translations) resembles the fact that none of Luffy's crew knew they had Robin on board at the time she wanted to join the crew. In short, Robin and Miss Double Finger love to surprise people. Not to mention their similar laugh.

    image_6
    Mister Three: I never thought it was you Miss Double Finger, Paula!
    Miss Double Finger: He He ... I never said I wasn't.

    Same mocking attitude.

    Speaking of Mister 1, in addition to being Zoro's opponent in Alabasta, now in the New World he is the only one of the Baroque Works who remains alongside Crocodile, like Robin. Not to mention the fact that Robin was with Crocodile with her code name of Miss All Sunday, while Mister 1 is now alongside Crocodile bearing his real name, Das Bornes. And here we see the parallel between Mister 1 and Zoro (he was his opponent and the second strongest in the Baroque Works) and between Mister 1 and Robin (both of Crocodile's aides and both using their real name).

    It is important to take into account the fact that Zoro was the only of the Straw Hat crew who was contacted by Baroque Works, long before their meeting at Whisky Peek. This is already another point in common between Zoro and Robin. That is not all: Zoro carefully describes the organization of the Baroque in front of Igaram and the others:
    - Baroque Works hunts pirates, like Zoro (for this reason they thought a sinister "pirate hunter" like Zoro might be useful to them);
    - It's a secret organization even for affiliates, who don't know each other;
    - The boss is also unknown and wants complete obedience;
    Zoro refuses to join them because he wants to be independent (for this reason he had also rejected Luffy's offer at the beginning). I believe that Robin (who was one of the bosses of Baroque Works at the time) knew of Zoro's absurd request at the time of his hiring (i.e. to claim to be their boss) and couldn't help but laugh at it, but no doubt with some admiration, unlike Miss Double Finger. Another link between Robin and Zoro is the fact that he defeated Mr Seven, the man from Baroque Works who contacted him. And this is symbolic ... Robin's official number in Luffy's crew is seven, as if she had taken the place of the previous Mr Seven. Another connection between them is the fact that they are both the right-hand men of their respective captains.
